Herman Kruger

Herman Kruger, son of Michael Kruger was born in Poland about 1865 and died on 14 Dec 1937 in Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL after being hit by a bus on U.S. 1. His wife was Jennie Cook who was born in England about1870, and died 31 Dec 1930, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL. Both are buried in Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL

They are found on page 13 of the 1920 census of Flagler County with his occupation given as "Painter - Decorator."

There are errors in the dates of immigration to the United States for the daughter was born many years after the year noted on the census record. And since there is conclusive evidence that the family moved to Flagler County from Alberta, Canada in 1911 (crossing the border in Oct 1911 and arriving here in Nov 1911), it seems that the year of immigration given in the census for Herman Kruger and his wife was possibly the years they immigrated to Canada.

On page 19 of the census a Jennie Kruger is listed as a lodger in the household of B. R. Burnsed in Precinct #2, and as Mrs Kruger was an invalid for many years this could have been a temporary situation and she was enumerated twice as she was known to lived with her family in their home just off the Deen Road in Bunnell.

From a clipping of 10 Mar 1921 in the Flagler Tribune, "The Young and Kruger Paint Company of Bunnell, who have been doing an extensive business in sign writing as well as plain and decorative painting in this vicinity for a year past and are forging ahead as one of the country's progressive concerns, are this week opening a branch house in Palatka. These men are artists in their line and are making progress far beyond expectations."

Several accounts are found in the Bunnell Home Builder concerning this family, including the notice of the organization of a Bunnell Brass Band under the leadership of C. E. Cisco, with H. Kruger as one of the nine organizing members. Mr and Mrs Kruger were the parents of one daughter;

1. Nina Kruger, born c1905 Canada, married Jesse Newsom. Issue;

(1) William H (Billy) Newsom, born 1928, FL. He served in the US Navy.
