September 9, 1943

FLORIAN ANDREW NOVAK, 17 year old son of Valentine J. Novak of Korona, enlisted in the navy at Jacksonville today. His brothers, Ralph and Edward are in service in the Pacific area now.

November 25, 1943

FLORIAN NOVAK, with the Navy at Jacksonville was home this week for a few days. Florian his two brothers who have been in service for several years - Edward with the army and now in Australia and Ralph with the Navy and in New Caledonia.

May 18, 1944

According to public relations officer "Recent graduation ceremonies at the Naval Training School (aviation) at the NATTC at Chicago, saw Bluejacket FLORIAN A. NOVAK, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Novak, receive recognition as eligible to qualify for the petty officer rate of aviation machinists mate third class.

August 3, 1944

From public relations of the U. S. Naval Air Station at Hutchinson, Kansas, we received the following:

“Among the members of a patrol service unit which graduated recently from the Hutchinson Naval Air Station is FLORIAN A. NOVAK, seaman first class, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Novak of Korona.

He is now a member of a highly trained group of men who are skilled in every phase of the job of keeping the Navy's 'Liberators' patrol bombers flying over enemy targets."

January 18, 1945

We learned today from Miss Sophia Novak that her brother, FLORIAN, who went into the navy last year is now on Leyte in the Philippines. She said a letter from Florian to his parents said he was getting along OK and was seeing and experiencing a lot. Florian has two other brothers in service, Edward in Australia with the U. S. army and Ralph in the navy somewhere in the Pacific.
