F. M. (Kinney) Townsend Sr., died early Monday morning in the local hospital following an illness of long duration.

Mr. Townsend was born in Lake Butler and resided there until 1934 when he moved to Hastings. He moved to Flagler County in 1939 and had resided in Haw Creek section where he was engaged in the farming, timber and cattle industry. He was a veteran of World War I, and was 64 years of age. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, Bunnell; two daughters, Mrs. Billy Yelvington, Hastings; and Mrs. Bill Morris of Ormond Beach; three sons, Kinney Townsend, Jr., Jim Townsend of Bunnell and Henry J. Townsend of Flagler Beach. Also surviving are one brother, William C. Townsend of Lake Butler; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Collins, Mrs. Elizabeth John and Mrs. Christine Warren of Lake Butler. Eleven grandchildren also survive.

Graveside funeral services were held at the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Daytona Beach at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Wesley O. Wilder, pastor, of the First Methodist Church of Bunnell officiating. Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Charles Creal, C. B. Eisenbach, Bud Henry, Paul Stanish, Earl Rice, and M. C. Coleman. Honorary pallbearers were H. M. Shirley, R. W. Cody, Sr., Zack Roberts, A. E. Howard, George White, Jack Hosford, M. Riherh, Ernie Spires, George Clegg, Henry Wells, Clarence Roberts, Ed Burks, John Rice, Levi Brannam, Jimmy Crews, O. F. Alford, J. N. McIntosh, Harry Clegg, and Dr. John Canakaris.
