William Lee Bartlett

William Lee Bartlett b c1852 Ind and his wife Ida born c1862 Ohio are found in the 1920 census of Flagler County on page 13 with a grandson and a granddaughter living with them. With his occupation given as "County Judge."

They came to Florida about 1913, from Ambia, Ind where he had been the postmaster. They located east of Bunnell on the road to the ocean where he had purchased a tract of land, built a house, and had the usual garden and animals.

When Flagler County was created he was appointed by Gov Sidney Johnston Catts the first County Judge, which office he held until 1928. Their daughter Lola Herr and small son, Orin Kermit, came to Flagler County in 1922 to visit and care for her Mother during an illness and never returned to La. Mr and Mrs Bartlett were the parents of three children;

1. A daughter who married (FNO) Donaldson. Issue;

(1) Delbert Charles Donaldson, born 16 Jan 1906, IL, died 04 Dec 1965, Long Beach, Los Angeles CO, CA. Living with grandparents in 1920. He married Nelda. Issue;

3. Lola Bartlett, born 06 May 1881, OH died 06 July 1949, Lake City, Columbia CO, FL, married (FNU) Ebling. After moving to Flagler County she worked for Mr Robinson in his shoe repair shop and general store and bought the store from him when he was planning to close the business. She managed the store until a few months before her death. Issue by her 1st m;

(1) Orval Warren Ebling, born 21 Dec 1901, IL, died 19 Nov 1972, Alachua CO, FL married 1928 in Brevard CO, FL, Juanita Benham, born 10 Dec 1910, died 23 Mar 1970. He worked for Bunnell Light and Ice plant with J. R. Johnson. They made the first ice for the plant. Later worked for FPL Company in Titusville then Lake City where he was superintendent of the plant at time of his retirement. Issue:

He joined the US Navy at the age of 17. Chief W.D. Herr, U S Navy served in the Pacific in W W II, including Diver in Tokyo Bay "taking up" Jap Midget Suicide Subs. In Jan 1936 he was living in San Diego, CA where he had just completed deep sea divers school. His regular profession was that of being a ship fitter
