The family is listed on page 23 of the 1920 census with his occupation given as "Farmer - Truck Farm." Mr and Mrs Czyzycki came to the United States in 1907 and were naturalized in 1914.

The family was part of the group of 35 families formed in Chicago who had purchased land in St. Johns CO, FL, after the land promotional advertisements in the northern papers made it seem the opportune time to seek a warmer climate. Before leaving Chicago the group raised $1,000 to build a church in their new land they named Korona meaning "Crown."

They arrived early in 1914 and began building their homes and a duplex for their priest, Rev Father Andrew Baczyk. Izydor Waszewski was awarded the contract to build St. Mary's Catholic Church. Tthe Priest and Mr Waszewski had moved from Flagler County by the 1920 census.

The Czyzycki family was one of the original 35 families who stayed and were an integral part of that staunch Polish community here during the formation of Flagler County. Though the "fertile ground" was often a gallberry patch with no drainage, so many returned to their former homes and work around Chicago, some stayed and had a truck farm or poultry farm or found work at the sawmill or worked in nearby orange groves.

Jan planted potatoes, truck farmed and worked at the Mound Grove Fruit Company until 1926 when he began operation of a poultry and egg farm which he operated until his retirement in the early 1960's.
