James Emmett Deen, son of James Monroe Deen and Mary Jane Josephine Sophronia (Safronne) Miles, born 21 June 1878 Baxley, Appling CO, GA, died 15 Oct 1948, Flagler Hospital, St Augustine, St Johns CO, FL buried 21 Oct 1948 Hope Cemetery, Flagler CO, FL.
He first came to St Johns now Flagler CO, FL around 1902 to operate the turpentine still at the Saplings for his Uncle George W Deen. At one time he had a livery stable in Bunnell, operated by Mike Barber and one in Espanola operated by Walt Durrance. He worked on the Deen Road from Bunnell to Haw Creek, to Orange Hammock and back to Bunnell and on the road from Seville to the Volusia CO line. He was later in business in the Deen and Yarbor Construction Company. They were subcontractors on the road from Deland to the Flagler CO line which was called the Perkins Highway (now State Road 11). The company also did road construction in GA, AL and MS.
He served as councilman in Bunnell in 1911, his appointment being signed by Governor Albert W Gilcrest on 04 Sep 1911. At the time of his death he was serving his first term as Supervisor of Registration for Flagler CO and was the nominee of the Democratic primary in May 1948 for that office again.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1934 and was discharged in 1938 in the rank of MM2. He served aboard the USS Northhampton, a heavy cruiser. Claude served as Chairman of the Flagler CO School Board in 1941 and lost the election the following term. In Oct 1942 the family was living in Jacksonville and he was working in a ship yard.
Claude was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Merchant Marine 29 Aug 1944 and served until mid 1945. In August 1945, he purchased a service station on U.S. 1 in Bunnell that was formerly operated by W E Nail. He then worked as a millwright during the construction of the Lehi Cement Plant in Flagler CO and later he then worked as a millwright at various locations over the state moving to Christmas, FL in the 1960's.

Sisco’s military service comprises ten years in the reserve and 16 years of active duty. He enlisted in the Florida National Guard in 1954, transferred to the Army Reserve in 1957 and transferred to the U S Air Force Reserve in 1960 and was commissioned in Dec 1962. He served two tours in Vietnam; the first with the 4252d Strategic Air Refueling Wing and the second with the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, both flying out of Thailand. He was medically retired from the USAF as a captain.
After retiring from the USAF he ran a lawn maintenance company in Port Orange, Volusia CO, FL and was president of DEECO, Inc, a landscaping company, and DB&S Investments, a builder of single family residences in the Port Orange area.
Sisco was a member of the Masonic Order, both a York Rite and Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Morocco Shrine Temple. He was a former Boy Scout District Commissioner and was presented The Silver Beaver Award by the Central Florida Council, BSA in 1991. He joined the American Legion in 1966 and served as the Boy Scout Chairman for the Dept of FL from 1986 until 2002. He also served on the Board of Directors for Florida American Legion Boys State and was a past commander of American Legion Flagler Post 115.

Duane graduated from Florida Southern College with a BS degree on 25 May 1941. In 1942 he received a commission in the USN during WW II and served in the naval reserves after the war with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a Flagler CO Judge in all courts comprising the Florida’s 7th Judicial Circuit for 12 years. He also served as a Justice of the Peace and was a teacher and head coach at Bunnell High School.
Luellen was a nurse in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. She attended MS State University, Blue Mountain College and received her training in nursing from Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. Joy was a graduate of Florida Southern College and was teaching in the Dade CO, FL school system prior to entering the Army. He received his wings at Moody Field, Valdosta, Lowndes CO, GA 03 Jul 1942 and was an instructor at Page Field, Fort Myers, Lee CO, FL. He left for overseas duty 12 Jan 1944 going to England where he was assigned to a squadron of B-26 Marauders as flight commander. Later he took part in the European invasion on D Day. He held the Air Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters as well as the Purple Heart Medal.7.
