Mr. and Mrs. Eatman and two or three small children moved from N C to St. Johns County, Florida in 1863 and settled in the area of Fort Payton near Moultrie. After a few years he bought a tract of land known as the Long Grant in the northeast section of present Flagler County. The property had remained vacant after Mr. Long's death, about 1836, by Indians on the war path, until the Eatman family moved to the area.

Calvin built their home, planted an orange grove, farmed and had cattle. A family cemetery was established on the property and Mr. and Mrs. Eatman are both buried there. Near by was a huge Indian Mound, according to family legend, the size of a two-story house, which was bulldozed down before Palm Coast moved into the area. Issue;
