David Leslie Gage

David Leslie Gage, son of Wilson Gage and Catherine H LNU, born Apr 1858, MO, died 13 Jun 1933 Flagler CO, FL, married 27 Oct 1891, Christian CO, IL, Mary Elizabeth Ware, dau of William Ware and Amanda M LNU, born Jun 1869, KY, died 20 Nov 1939, Englewood Dairy, Flagler CO, FL, north of Flagler Beach. Both buried Hillside Cemetery, Ormond Beach, Volusia CO, FL.

While living in Illinois, he acquired a large tract of land west of the canal in the northeast corner of present Flagler County in 1899. David moved his family from Illinois to Seabreeze (now Daytona Beach), Volusia, CO, FL between 1910 and 1920 where they rented a house and began clearing land for a farm homestead in now Flagler CO.

Gage was elected to the Board of County Commissioners of Flagler County in 1924.

They established their home on a tract of rich muck land bordering the Florida Costal Canal. In 1922, he finished the erection of a packing and freight ware house and loading dock on his property close to Fox's cut in Flagler CO, FL. The new dock was to be used for turpentine shipments

In Mar 1929, he purchased the Flagler Beach dairy from Mr. J V Tescher and at the time of his death, his dairy was rated as one of the best in the county. Issue;

4. Lyman Leslie Gage, born 10 Aug 1899, Pleasant View, Macon CO, IL, died 10 Nov 1971, Eufaula, Barbour CO, AL, buried Hillside Cemetery, Ormond Beach, Volusia CO, FL, married Marjorie LNU

He was a charter member and past president of the Flagler County Kiwanis Club, past president of Flagler Cattlemen's Association and an honorary director of the Florida Cattleman's Association. He served a number of years on the East Flagler Mosquito Control District and was chairman of the board.

Lyman was a member of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce, a director of Flagler Farm Bureau and was active in Flagler County Boy Scouts and 4-H Clubs. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Flagler Beach where he had served as a trustee, a member of the official board, president of the Brotherhood and a member of the church choir.

He died in an automobile accident en route to his home in Florida from Illinois.

5. Dorothy L Gage, born about 1907, Pleasant View, Macon CO, IL, died 26 Apr 1956, Detroit, Oakland or Wayne CO, MI, married Bruce Chester. She was a graduate of Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, FL and moved with her husband to Detroit in 1942. Issue;

(1) Sandra Lee Chester born 20 Nov 1936, Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Volusia CO, FL

(2) Barbara Ann Chester
