William H. Gray

William H. Gray was born about 1866 IL, and his wife Elizabeth was born about 1874, MO, died 20Nov 1937, Daytona Beach, Volusia CO, FL, buried Pinewood Cemetery, Daytona Beach, Volusia CO, FL.

They are found on page 4 of the 1920 census of Flagler County with his occupation given as "Contractor" and her occupation as "Music Teacher." Several references to the family are found in the Bunnell Home Builder, beginning with a letter written on 20 Nov 1912. Their farm was near Gore Lake.

He was active in an organization "Farmers Society of Equity," which was a cooperative society for purchasing farm supplies and marketing crops. The family was said to have come from Spokane, Washington, seeking a better climate for Mr. Gray's health. As a music teacher she sponsored recitals that were enjoyed by the community. The family had moved to Daytona before June 1924. Issue;

THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, June 12, 1924

Miss Kathleen Gray, while en route to Jacksonville from Daytona last Friday was stricken with apoplexy and died several hours later at one of the hospitals there.

Miss Gray was to have been married Saturday morning, and her fiancé, Mr. Peter Ladas of Daytona, prostrated with grief, was carried to another hospital in that city.

The body was shipped to the home of the deceased at Daytona and funeral services were held at that place Monday morning at the Catholic church.

The deceased is survived by her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gray of Daytona.

Before moving to Daytona, Miss Gray and her parents were residents of Bunnell, coming here from Wyoming several years ago. In Bunnell her friends were numbered by her acquaintances, and the news of here death will be deplored by all who knew her.

The Tribune joins with the entire community in extending their sympathy to the grief-stricken parents in their great loss.
