Knox Jones
Knox Jones, son of Marion Jones and Rebecca Bostick, was born 25 Dec 1865, Rockingham, Richmond CO, NC and died 11 Jun 1953 Rose Hill, Duplin CO, NC, married 07 Feb 1899 Dublin, Laurens CO, GA to Florrie E Fisher, dau of Daniel Fisher and Georgia Douglas, born 13 Dec 1876 Dublin, Laurens CO, GA, died 19 Oct 1949 East Coast Hospital, St. Augustine, St Johns CO, FL. Both are buried at Espanola Cemetery.
The family is listed on page 52 of the 1910 census of St. Johns County with his occupation given as "Merchant." They are listed on page 42 of the 1920 census of Flagler County, residing in Espanola with his occupation given as "Farmer" Truck Farm.
They came to this area from Mayo, Fla, traded a saw mill in West Florida for a store in Espanola. The store burned and he rebuilt it. "Jones Mercantile Company, General Merchandise, Produce, Feed Stuffs, Etc.", according to his letterhead. He also owned a tract of land in Volusia County where highway 40 now crosses the Tomoka River and the family lived in Ormond at one time. They were once residents of Hastings.
He served as a county commissioner from the Espanola District in 1921. The family moved to the St. Johns Park area around 1925 where he farmed before moving back to Espanola. Issue;
