Walter Eugene Knight, son of David Burnett Knight and Jane Martha Blitch, was born 13 Aug 1869 in Union CO, FL near Lake Butler, died 02 May 1938, Glendale Hospital, Palatka, Putnam CO, FL, married around 1894, Salome Jane Kellum, dau of John Washington Kellum and Jane Godwin, born 16 Feb 1877, Lake Butler, Union CO, GA, died 19 Dec 1951, Glendale Hospital, Palatka, Putnam CO, FL. Both are buried Eden Cemetery, Crescent City, Putnam CO, FL.
The family is listed on page 27 of the 1920 census of Flagler County with his occupation given as "Farmer General." According to the family sketch that appeared in The First Families of Flagler, they moved from Lake Butler, Fla in 1898 to the area then known as Orange Hammock, later called Haw Creek, being one of the early families to settle in this area, which was in Volusia County. However, the family is listed in bother the 1900 and 1910 census as residents of Seville, Volusia CO, FL.
He farmed, raised sheep and operated a commissary near his home. Mr Knight worked for the creation of Flagler County and remained one of its loyal supporters. He served as a member of the Board of County Commissioners of Flagler County from Jan 1929 until Jan 1935. He also served several years as a member of the Flagler County Board of Public Instruction. His sons, K. K. and Walter Jr took over the operation of the farm after their father's death in 1938.
Mrs Knight had been a school teacher in Lake Butler and in their early years in this sparsely settled area with the school terms so uncertain, she rented a house in Crescent City, going across the lake in a boat, taking the children over during the week for school, returning home for the weekend. They were the parents of eight children;

A lifelong resident of Flagler County who became as resident of Bunnell in 1953 - he operated a rental business and was a member of the Bunnell First United Methodist Church. In 1976 he was VP of the Flagler CO Rough Riders. He was elected as a Bunnell City Commissioner in Feb 1976. Issue;

Dr Knight has served the Florida State Hosp at Chattahoochee and Cherry Lake Farms in Madison, FL. In Aug 1941 he was associated with Dr Ziegler at the Glendale Hospital in Palatka, FL.
She was the youngest dau of Robley Bruce and attended local schools and VA Intermont in Bristol, VA, later attending Franklin School of Art and Science in Philadelphia. In Aug 1941 she was on the staff of Dr G M Zeagler at the Glendale Hospital in Palatka , FL. Issue;
