Arnold Lambert

Arnold Lambert, born 03 Oct 1852 West Virginia and his wife Rebecca, born 06 June 1852, West Virginia are found on page 5 of the 1920 census. Numerous articles are found in the Bunnell Home Builder from 1913 on concerning Mr Arnold and his numerous trips to Bunnell with produce from his farm located about two miles south of Bunnell.

According to a story in the April 1914, Bunnell Home Builder, the family came to this area from Oklahoma.

They were active in the affairs of the town for one account was noted of Mrs Lambert teaching a Sunday School Class at the Bunnell Methodist Church. Issue;

7. Effie Maybell Lambert, born 05 Jul 1891, NE, died 19 May 1954, Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Volusia CO, FL, married James Joseph ( Uncle Joe) Miller, son of James C Miller and Annie E. Burnside, born 13 Dec 1877, Haw Creek, St Johns now Flagler CO, FL, died 15 Mar 1949, Flagler Beach, Flagler CO, FL. Both buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL.

He worked dredging canals around Hastings, FL and Bunnell. His wife cooked for the crews. He farmed at Black Point, then moved to Flagler Beach where he was the caretaker of McKenzie's Orange Grove on the Intercostal Canal on Robert's Road. He was bridge tender for many years. Issue;

(1) Glenn Joseph Miller, born 13 Mar 1914, FL, died 23 Aug 1974, Ormond Beach Memorial Hospital, Volusia CO, FL, married 15 Sep 1939, Macclenny, Baker CO, FL, born 05 Feb 1907, died 14 Oct 1979, Jacksonville, Duval CO, FL. Both buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL.

He was an US Navy diver (demolition) in WW II. After the war he worked at Marineland (a tourist attraction between Flagler Beach and St. Augustine) diving and feeding the fish.

His wife and he owned and operated several restaurants at Flagler Beach. He had one on the corner of A1A and 8th St in Flagler Beach which was taken over by Mrs Anne Daugherty in Nov 1948.

I (Claude Sisco Deen, Jr) can recall eating at the restaurant they owned at A1A and State Road 100 in Flagler Beach many times with my great-aunt and Uncle C.O. and Pauline Magee when I was a small boy.

There is a story in the 23 Sep 1954 Flagler Tribune saying that Mr and Mrs Glenn Miller and son, Glenn, Jr were leaving in Oct for a 4-month visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Sgt and Mrs L F Richardson in Honolulu.

The restaurant on A1A which was called the A1A Restaurant and Motel was closed for renovations in Dec 1961 and reopened for business on 18 Jan 1963, hours were 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Issue;

B. Glenn G Miller, married 17 May 1968, Nancy Jane Hargett, dau of James Thomas (Jimmie) Hargett and Wilda Strickland, born 01 Oct 1951, Halifax District Hospital, Daytona Beach, Volusia CO, FL. Issue;

Grace Irene Lambert, born 08 Nov 1895, Garber, Garfield CO, OK, died 25 Jun 1974, Healdton, Carter CO, OK, married 15 Dec 1920, Enid, Garfield CO, OK, Wideman Etsitric (Ed) Martin, son of John Wiseman Martin and Sara Jane Scott, born 05 Apr 1893, Maples, Texas CO, MO, died 27 Nov 1966, Richardson, Dallas CO, TX.

She is listed with her parents in the 1920 census of Flagler CO, FL with occupation given as "Clerk Retail Store.” Issue;
