George Cornelius McArn

George Cornelius McArn was born Sep 1872, NC, died 30 Jan 1914, Bunnell, St Johns now Flagler CO, FL, married about 1907 Agnes B Smith, dau of William English (Iwg/Elly) Smith and Jane Padgett, born Nov 1882, Walterboro, Colleton CO, SC, died 22 Mar 1951, Flagler Hospital, St Augustine, St Johns CO, FL, both buried Evergreen Cemetery, St Augustine, St Johns CO, FL.

They are found on page 69 of the 1910 census of St. Johns County with his occupation given as "Stenographer" residing in precinct no. 7. She and the children are listed on page 10 of the 1920 census of Flagler Co. with her occupation given as "Owner Retail Store."

George C. McArn was a charter member of Bunnell Lodge #200 F & A M. From several accounts in the Bunnell Home Builder it was found that G. C. McArn had purchased ten acres of farm land and cleared it; had opened a grocery store in Nov 1913, adjacent to the Bunnell Meat and Ice Company, and in Jan 1914 had shoes and dry goods available in his store. He was in the process of erecting his own building when he was accidently killed by a train. Mrs. McArn completed the store and operated it for many years. She also operated a rooming house on Moody Blvd. Issue;

He was baptized at the First Methodist Church of Bunnell, the first baptism in the church. In 1926 he was entered in the school for the deaf and blind in St Augustine.

Gloria holds a BS degree from Florida State University. She was Flagler CO, FL’s first peace corps volunteer in 1964 serving in Eastern Malaysia. She was a school teacher in India, Malawi, Botswana, and New York State. Gloria also worked at the US Embassies in Zimbawe and Namibia, Africa. In her retirement years, she taught Tai Chi for the Flagler County School District, Adult and Community Education.

Richard was a Human Resource Economist with the Agency for International Development now retired and living in St Augustine, St Johns CO, FL. Richard and Gloria lived in Ithaca, NY., Columbus, OH, Tacoma Park, MD, Jacksonville, FL, Maylasia, India, and Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana, and Nabibia, Africa. (Div). Issue;
