Charles Konstantine Muzyka was born 25 Sep 1887, Austria, died 08 Jun 1962, University of Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Alachua CO, FL, married 06 Jan 1925, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL by Judge W Lee Bartlett to Jessie Viola Bray, dau of William George Bray and Emaline Griffis born 12 Nov 1892, Bradford CO, FL, died 19 June 1964, Bunnell Clinic and Hospital, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL. Both buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL.

Jessie was married 1st, about1910 to Dozier Young Forsyth. They had four children, Emma Pearl, Dozier Paul, Ada Pauline and Faye Louise Forsyth (see sketch on Dozier Young Forsyth for additional information on this family).

He was not listed in the 1920 Flagler CO, FL census but according to the Bunnell Home Builder of Jan 1918; “ Mr Chas Muzyka of Detroit, Mich is here to settle on his 40 acres of land near Codyville. Mr Muzyka was in the colony a year ago and purchased his forty-acre tract and has just now completed the erection of a nice home on his farm.”

They were the parents of six children;

She held half interest in the Bunnell Coffee Shop with Abe Abraham. In 1965, Abe's brother Nagi Abraham bought a half interest in the Bunnell Motel Lodge and Coffee Shop from Abe. The coffee shop was located on US 1 in the north section of the city near the overpass.

Zena continued in the business with Nagi as a partner. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell.

2. Thelma Marie Muzyka, born 27 Dec 1927, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, died 14 Jan 2009, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL. She was a clerk at the Flagler County Health Department until her retirement.

3. Margaret Viola Muzyka, born 13 Oct 1929, Flagler CO, FL, died 29 Dec 1984, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL, married 24 Oct 1951, First Baptist Church, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, to John Alfred Clegg, son of Harry Clegg and Julia Ward Ferguson, born 24Nov 1918, Seville, Volusia CO, FL, died 25 Sep 2005, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL.. Issue;

Jack received his elementary and high school education in Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL where he was graduated in 1936. He completed a regular four year course of study at the University of Florida and was graduated in 1940 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education. He spent the next year working towards a Master's degree at the University of Florida where he was a graduate assistant in English in the College of Education.

He was a school teacher, Flagler County Superintendent of Public Instruction (from Mar 1946 when he replaced Brady Wadsworth until 1 Jul 1952 when he resigned the position), County Commissioner (appointed to fill the remaining 2 year term of L E Wadsworth in Jan 1955), Mayor of Bunnell, Trustee of Daytona Beach Community College, president of Clegg & Associates, president of Ellis Bank of Bunnell and Flagler Beach, publisher of The Flagler Tribune and author of "History of Flagler County" and "My First Seventy-five Years."

He, as was his father, was Worshipful Master of Bunnell Masonic Lodge and active in Bunnell Methodist Church. Sgt Clegg served in the US Army during WWII. He joined American Legion Post 115 in 1946 and served a number of years as Adjutant and two terms as commander.
In Jun 1951 he received his master's degree in education from the University of Florida.

In Aug 1954 he sold his house on the corner of Moody Blvd and Moore Street to Levi Brannam, owner of Brannam's Food Market, and moved to the Clegg home on Central Ave in Flagler Beach on Sep 1, 1954.

In Nov 1967 he purchased the entire interest of The Flagler Tribune and was engaged full time with the Tribune and the development of his retail stores - Mrs Bette S McDaniel was to continue as news editor.

Some of Jack's businesses in Flagler CO (Clegg and Associates) were: The Bunnell Thriftway; Flagler ACE Hardware; Flagler Printers; Land N' Sea Fashions; Speedy Laundry; Jay's Laundry and Car Wash and Logan's Sales and Service.

Margaret was a graduate of Bunnell High School, served as general chairman of the March of Dimes, was secretary of the Bunnell Youth Council and served as secretary of Bunnell High School. Later she owned and operated the Land 'N' Sea Dress Shop in Bunnell. Issue;

4. Charles Herman (CH) Muzyka, born 19 Sep 1931, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, died 19 May 1981, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, buried Espanola Cemetery, Espanola, Flagler CO, FL, married 04 Jun 1966, St Andrews Church, Orlando, Orange CO, FL, Heneritta (Henri) Haas, dau of Henry E Hass, born 14 Oct 1944.

He was a graduate of Bunnell HS and served in the USAF following his graduation. He received a BS in Business Admin from the University of Florida in Jan 1960 and went into the retail business.

In Apr 1966, he was the personnel manager of the Melbourne Montgomery Ward Store. He later was in Charleston where he managed a J. F. Fields Department Store.

CH returned to Bunnell in 1976 and purchased the Thriftway Supermarket in Bunnell. He was a member of Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church, served on the Bunnell Zoning Board and was leader of local Boy Scout Troop 420.

When she and CH married, Henri was the training director of the Montgomery Ward Store in Orlando and a pink lady at the Orange Memorial Hospital. Issue;

Audrey Elizabeth Muzyka, born 11 Apr 1933, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, died 14 Mar 2001, Flagler Beach, Flagler CO, FL, buried San Mateo Cemetery, San Mateo, Putnam CO, FL, married 02 Nov 1957, First Baptist Church, Bunnell, Flagler CO, FL, Edward Miller Hawkins Jr, son of Edward Miller Hawkins and Bessie Turner, born 03 Jan 1935, Putnam CO, FL.

She attended Bunnell High School and Massey Business School in Jacksonville and worked for H. T. Cook in Bunnell. She was a retired secretary for Wilson-Hillman condominium developers returning to this area from Pensacola in 1984.

He attended public schools in Palatka and served in the US Army. Issue;

Otis was retired as a forest ranger and resident manager for Container Corporation of America and later Owens Illinois Timber Divisions Forest in Flagler and Volusia counties. A sixth generation Floridian, he also served as City Commissioner of Bunnell and was a veteran County Commissioner from 1960 to 1980 (He was the third generation of his family to serve as a County Commissioner of Flagler County); he then retired from politics.

Otis helped to implement the County Building Department, zoning ordinances of residential, industrial and commercial zones to existing property in the county. Mr. Hunter also helped to develop the County Ambulance, County Landfill, and Flagler County Fairgrounds.

Otis was instrumental in the formation of Espanola Volunteer Fire Department on 28 Feb 1974 and he was a past member of the Board of Directors for Florida State Civil Defense Council for Flagler County. He was a charter member and past president of Flagler County Historical Society, charter members of VFW Post 5213, member of the First Baptist Church of Bunnell, and 40 year member of F&AM Masonic Lodge, Bunnell.

Otis was a member of Florida Farm Bureau, Florida Forestry Association, Association of Retired Persons (AARP) and Kentucky Colonel. Sgt. Hunter was a four-year veteran of World War II, participated in the D-Day invasion of Europe at Normandy, France.

Otis was listed in the 1980 “First Prominent People in Florida Government.”

Anna was a 1974 graduate of Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach and was widely known there where she sang and performed in Daytona Playhouse musicals. She was the first artist in residence for The Casements in Ormond Beach. She had been employed by the State Attorney's Office of Flagler CO since 1991.
