He moved to Flagler Beach from Tampa in 1919 with his mother and four brothers ‑ the trip took two weeks via mule and wagon

He retired Jun 2, 1967 as postmaster at Flagler Beach, FL after 12.5 years of service. He was appointed acting postmaster Dec 31, 1954 and served in that capacity until May 15, 1956 when he was appointed postmaster.

Combining two periods of service, 20 years in the US Navy (he was retired as a Warrant Machinist in Feb 1958 after completing 30 years of active and inactive service) and 12 years as postmaster, he retired under the Civil Service act of the Post Office Department with 32 years of service.  A former Flagler Beach commissioner, he was a member of Bunnell Lodge No 200 F&AM, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 93 and the Flagler CO Shrine Club.
