BILL BOWERS, who waited impatiently until he was 17 years old to get into the Marines, was here this week on a short furlough from Parris Island, S. C. Bill's brother, Jean, is with the Marines somewhere in the Pacific area and his mother said today that she has not heard from him in several months. Bill said he likes the Marines fine.

BILL BOWERS, in the Marines, recently arrived at his destination in the Caribbean area. His brother, Jean, also a Marine, is stationed in the Pacific area.
October 1, 1943
News was received here from Marine BILL BOWERS whose general locality is unknown to us, that he is "feeling fine and having a good time" but would like to see "everybody in Bunnell."
March 2, 1944
Saw pictures of the BOWERS boys this week. Their mother, Mrs. Virgil Decker had them. Both are Marines. JEAN is in the Southwest Pacific while Bill is still in Trinidad, S. A. They advised their mother that each is feeling fine.
May 11, 1944
BILL BOWERS of the U. S. Marines is spending a furlough here with his mother, Mrs, Virgil Decker. Bill has spent a number of months in the Caribbean at Trinidad, and will report to a station in the U. S.

Marine BILL BOWERS left this week for Virginia after spending a furlough here with his mother. Bill has spent some time in Trinidad since entering the Marine Corps last year.
