July 9, 1942

THREE LEAVE FOR CAMP LAST MONDAY

Three Flagler county men left last Monday, July 6, to be inducted into the armed forces of the nation, O. F. Alford, clerk of the local board announced today.

The men were JOHN ALFRED CLEGG, Owen Ozem Thomas, Jr., and Ernest Walton Johnston, Jr.

Mr. Alford also announced that Thaddeus Theodore Cyzycki, who has been registered with this board, has transferred to the Local Board No.4, Duval County, for delivery.

James Hulett Durrance, who was scheduled to go in this call, enlisted in the U. S. Navy, Mr. Alford said.

May 6, 1943

Sgt. JACK CLEGG, is a traveling soldier, going from camp to camp in several southeastern states, doing expert work in personnel division.

October 19, 1944

Sgt. JACK CLEGG spent a few days here on furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clegg, before going to Ft. Dix, N. J., for two months of special schooling.

December 28, 1944

Several of the fellows were fortunate enough to get home for Christmas, among them Howard Hunter, Alfred Tucker, Nathan Durrance, Raymond Smith, JACK CLEGG and Curtis Deen, although Smith and Deen have to return to hospital shortly.

April 5, 1945

Sgt. JACK CLEGG was home on a short furlough last weekend.

June 7, 1945

Sgt. JOHN CLEGG is here on a furlough visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clegg now at Flagler Beach.

August 16, 1945

Sgt. JOHN CLEGG was here last Weekend with his parents. If we remember right, "Jack" is stationed now at Atlanta.

December 27, 1945

Sgt. JACK CLEGG was here on furlough during the Christmas season, visiting his parents.

January 17, 1946
