James E. (Jimmy) Jenkins

December 10, 1942

This column received a Christmas greeting this week from Lt. and Mrs. JAMES E. JENKINS of California. Lt. Jenkins will be remembered as "Jimmy" Jenkins, another son of Rev. and Mrs. Jenkins.

January 28, 1943

Bobby Jenkins, youngest son of Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Jenkins of Vero Beach, has joined the Marines and is stationed at Parris Island, S. C. All three sons of Rev. and Mrs. Jenkins are now in the armed services of Uncle Sam. John T. is an aviation cadet and stationed at Nashville, Tenn. and JAMES (JIMMY) is an army lieutenant and stationed in California. Jimmy has been in the army for three years.

Another good guy spent Sunday here - Bobby Jenkins, son of Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Jenkins of Vero Beach. Bobby is a Marine and is stationed at Jacksonville, attending a mechanics' school. We had not seen Bobby for some time and the guy has really grown up. His brother, John T., is at Memphis, Tenn. at a flying school and his other brother, Army Lt. JIMMY JENKINS is still located in California.

First Lieut. JIMMIE JENKINS blew in here today where his parents Rev. and Mrs, J. E. Jenkins met him, they coming up from Vera Beach. Jimmie is located at March Field, Calif., where he is running a railroad within March Field. (Same old Jimmie, but looks a little older. Aren't we all?)

Remember JIMMY JENKINS? Well he's a proud papa. A son born on December 5 at March Field, Calif. where he is stationed. Jimmy sent a wire to Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Holden here announcing the event, but forgot to give to young man's name. If Jimmie wasn't so far away, we'd demand a box of good cigars to pass around.

Lt. JIMMY JENKINS writes Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Holden here that when the war is over he plans to come to Bunnell with his family and settle down. He is now at March Field, California.

(If Jimmy “settles” he certainly has changed since Uncle Sam took charge of him several years ago. Nevertheless, we surely would welcome him “home”)

Cpl. Leonard Moody, stationed with the anti-aircrafters at Camp Hann, California, was scheduled for a furlough recently, but the dates seemed to conflict with a scheduled visit to the desert so furloughs for all essential men in the gun section were postponed for a few days. Leonard so writes of a very delightful visit recently with Lt. JIMMY JENKINS and family at nearby March Field.

Capt. JIMMY JENKINS, transportation officer at March Field, California, was here Wednesday greeting old friends. Capt. Jenkins is the son of Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Jenkins of Vero Beach, but who lived in Bunnell several years ago while assigned to the Methodist Church.
