Howard M. Salter

March 11, 1943

Chester Alex McKenzie, John Rudolph Quigley, HOWARD M. SALTER of Bunnell and James Claud Arnold of Flagler Beach, together with Walter S. Morris, transferee from Barren County, Kentucky, went to Blanding Tuesday.

All were accepted into service except Arnold who was rejected. Mr. Morris is married and has a six-months-old baby. He has taught music (band and glee) in Bunnell High for two terms. He also has been principal since the death of J. F. (Prof) Houck.

June 3, 1943

Chester Alex McKenzie and HOWARD SALTER are both stationed now at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

November 4, 1943

Pvt. HOWARD SALTER from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., is here this week visiting his mother.

May 4, 1944

HOWARD SALTER who now stationed at Breckenridge, Ky., is home on furlough visiting his mother Mrs. Edna Salter.

July 13, 1944

We are advised that HOWARD SALTER, in the army, has arrived in England.

August 10, 1944

Pvt. HOWARD SALTER is now in England, his mother informs us.

February 1, 1945

Pfc. HOWARD SALTER, who was in front line combat Christmas day, is now in a hospital in England, his mother, Mrs. Edna Salter here, said today. She does not know what happened to Howard, apparently some of his letters have not arrived yet. However he said in his last letter - sent from the hospital - that he was feeling fine and getting along fine.

August 9, 1945

HOWARD SALTER is here spending a 30-day furlough, having returned from the ETO. He reports back to Camp Swift, Texas.
