Henry Barney Trojan

January 28, 1943

The announcement of the marriage of Miss Ruth Hewitt of Newport, R. I. to Chief Pharmacist Mate HENRY B. TROJAN on January 17, 1943, has just been received by The Tribune. Chief Trojan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Trojan of Korona and has been in the navy for a number of years. This column offers congratulations to Henry.

September 16, 1943

Mrs. B. W. Trojan of Korona told us the other day that her son, HENRY, who has been in the Navy about 10 years has worked his way up to Warrant Officer. This column offers its congratulations, especially since we know the rank is not handed out as a gift to anyone'. Henry has seen much tough service since, Pearl Harbor, serving in the Atlantic.

February 3, 1944

HENRY TROJAN IS A WARDED NAVY CITATION

Warrant Pharmacist HENRY BARNEY TROJAN, son of Mr. and Mrs.. B. Trojan of Korona, was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation January 21 as a member of the USS Barry which was part of a task force which sank a record number of submarines in the Atlantic between July 27 and November 9, 1943.

The citation, which had just caught up with Trojan, who was recently transferred from the Barry to duty at the Newport, R. I., naval hospital, was pinned on his uniform by Capt. S. R. Mills (MC). U.S.N., commanding the naval hospital.

Trojan said that he had been told that his task force had sunk more submarines than any other task force in the navy's history. The Unit Citation which was attached to his personal citation as a member of the force, and, signed by Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox for the president.

Trojan has been in the navy 10 years and his service medals include the Pre-Pearl Harbor, Good Conduct, American and African-European, the latter indicating several major engagements.

Trojan has a sister in service, Lt. Wanda Trojan, who is an army nurse and stationed at Camp Stewart, Georgia.

June 7, 1945

Army Nurse Lt. Wanda Trojan is now plying the Atlantic on one of the hospital ships returning our soldiers and sailors from the ETA, while her brother, Navy Warrant Officer HENRY TROJAN is stationed aboard a hospital ship in the Pacific. Wanda served at Camp Stewart, Ga., for many months before going to sea. Henry has been in the navy for a number of years and saw much rugged action back in 1941-42-43 before drawing shore duty for several months.
