SIX FLAGLER MEN LEAVE FOR ARMY

Six Flagler county men left this week to enter military service in the Army.

GILBERT TUCKER, lieutenant in the reserves, was called to duty and was assigned to Fort Bragg, N. C.

The five others went to Camp Blanding. They are Homer Malcolm Anderson, George Hubert Crews, Alfred Robert Tucker, Wilfred Claude Varn, and Hubert Eldy Ward.

November 19, 1942

Lt. and Mrs. GILBERT TUCKER of Fort Bragg, N. C., announce the arrival of a son, born on November 12. Mrs. Tucker will be remembered before her marriage as Miss Ruth McLean.

August 26, 1943

Then a letter from Capt. GILBERT TUCKER from out at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. We don't know how long "Gib" has been a Captain but we offer congrats, anyway. He is taking some special work in field artillery under instructors who have returned from the fighting fronts. He says Oklahoma is a nice state but he prefers "the flat woods of florida."

December 2, 1943

Capt. GILBERT TUCKER with his wife and baby were here for a few days last week. They have been at Fort Sill, Okla., but he is being returned to Fort Bragg, N.C.

December 30, 1943

Christmas greetings received his week included cards from: Capt. and Mrs. J. R. West (Dr. Richard West), formerly of Bunnell, who is stationed at the base hospital at Boca Raton, Fla.; Ensign Corise Varn in the Waves at Charleston, S. C.; Chief and Mrs. Johnny Stanish of San Bruno, California; Lt. and Mrs. Joe Norfleet of Seattle, Wash.; Capt. and Mrs. GILBERT TUCKER of Camp Davis, N. C.; Pvt. John F. Clements who is with the Marines at San Diego, Calif.; Cpl. Leonard Moody of Camp Haan, Calif.

Also a unique V-Mail greeting from Cpl. Richard Tucker who has served with the Marines in the Southwest Pacific area for the past year and a half.

These greetings and letters are very deeply appreciated by both Fuller and I. I am planning to make up a scrap book of them one of these days (when I can find time) and it will be something that probably all of us as well as the coming generation will enjoy reading.

June 29, 1944

Capt. GILBERT TUCKER has been assigned to the staff and faculty of the field artillery school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, public relations office there informs us. His wife and baby, Gilbert Jr., live in Lawton, Oklahoma.

September 28, 1944

We also had a nice letter from Capt. and Mrs. GILBERT TUCKER, who are back at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Capt. Tucker is instructing in a school there and likes the work fine.

May 31, 1945

Capt. and Mrs. GILBERT TUCKER and son, Andrew, are here this week visiting relatives and friends. They will leave shortly to return to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where Capt. Tucker is stationed.

September 27, 1945

Capt. GILBERT A. TUCKER, who has been stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for some time, is now at sea in the Pacific to a new assignment.

October 4, 1945

Capt. GILBERT TUCKER landed at Leyte, Philippines, recently and expects to be stationed there for some time.
