Mrs. Mary Peabody passed away Sunday after an extended illness. She was born and reared in Quitman, Ga., and was the daughter of the late John and Gillie Barrs, a pioneer family of Quitman.

She made her home at Steinahatchee, Florida, for the past 40 years where she and her late husband were engaged in the wholesale fishing business. She had resided in Bunnell the past year with her brother and his wife during her illness. She was 74 years of age.

She is survived by two brothers, Louis Barrs, Bunnell and Jack Barrs of Quitman; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Yates, Orlando, and Mrs. Eugene Cox of Hinesville, Ga.; a stepmother, Mrs. Eva Barrs, Quitman. Also sur­viving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Beulah Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Ben Rrooks, officiating. Interment followed at the old Columbia Cemetery with Maxwell and Eason Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Tommy Barrs, John Barrs, Jack Yates, Bill Cox, Allen Yates and John Cox, all nephews of Mrs. Peabody.
