THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, June 15, 1933

Georgia Brown, Negress, is dead and the murderer, Wesley Bartee, Negro man, is in jail awaiting action of the grand jury, the crime taking place at Espanola Sunday night.

Both negroes have been employed by County Commissioner A. G. Thompson for a number of years, the woman as cook at his home and the man on his farm.

According to Sheriff H. R. Whitaker, who arrested Bartee Monday afternoon near Pellicer creek while the Negro was making a get-away, Bartee used a razor on the woman, nearly severing the head from the body.

Sheriff Whitaker said that the crime was committed because of another Negro man bestowing his attentions on the woman.
