THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, December 6, 1928

William James Buie, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arney Buie of Bunnell, is dead from a gunshot wound accidentally inflicted Tuesday afternoon when the baby's older brother, Lee Arnold, aged eight years, is said to have tripped and dropped the gun when he was carrying it into the house. The baby was only about 15 feet away when the shot was fired.

Almost immediately after the accident the baby was brought from the home of Sheriff W. J. Williams, where the accident occurred, to the office of Dr. Reddin Britt. After examination Dr. Britt advised the child be sent to a hospital and the baby was rushed to St. Augustine where it died Wednesday evening at 8:20 o’clock in a hospital in St. Augustine.

According to Sheriff W. J. Williams, who is the dead baby's grandfather, that practically the entire load of shot was received by the baby, and part of the shot pierced the intestines causing the baby's death.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 o’clock from the chapel of Sanchez & Craig, funeral directors in St. Augustine, with Rev, A. E. Calkins, pastor of the Ancient City Baptist church, officiating. The burial will in Moultrie tomorrow.
