Former Flagler Beach Municipal Court Judge Earl Dawson Caldwell died last Saturday at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Daytona Beach. Caldwell was 71.

He had a distinguished life of public service serving as a Daytona Beach, 1951 to 1953, and mayor of South Daytona, 1961-1963, and municipal judge from 1973 to 1975.

Caldwell, a native of Dahlonega, Ga., moved to Daytona Beach in 1949 where he established Caldwell Chemicals and Caldwell Realty in Flagler Beach.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach; past Worshipful Master of Kennesaw Lodge 33, F&AM, and a member of the Royal Select Master Masons, all in Marietta, Ga.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Daytona Beach, was past president of the Business Men's Association; past president of the Boy Scout Committee and past president of the South Halifax and Sunset Lions clubs.

He is survived by his widow, Mary; five sons, three daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
