Funeral services for Leon J. Canova, a resident of Flagler Beach for ten years, was held Tuesday afternoon from St. Monica's Catholic Church in Palatka at 4 P. M.

Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery at Palatka, with T. E. Holden, of Bunnell; R. R. Mosby and George Wickline of Flagler Beach; J. Emmett Brown, Raymond Smith and R. C. Higginbotham, of Palatka, pallbearers.

Mr. Canova died Sunday afternoon in the East Coast Hospital in St. Augustine from a heart ailment, and he had been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Canova was born in St. Augustine on February 2, 1866. He went to Palatka as a young man and was associated in business with his brother, the late Louis C. Canova. In 1893 he was married to Virginia Ransom of Palatka, who died in 1943.

For a number of years he was connected with the State Department, Washington, D. C., and spent many years in Cuba, Mexico, South America and Puerto Rico on both official and private business.

He is survived by a daughter, Miss Lillian Canova of Palatka a son, E. C. Canova, Washington, D. C., a granddaughter, Miss Shirley Canova of Palatka; two grandsons, Leon J. Canova, II, of Washington, D. C. and E. C. Canova, Jr. of Pleasantville, Ohio.
