Dr. Lemuel Allen Carter, long time resident of Flagler county, was found dead at his home here early Saturday morning, September 28. He died apparently, following a heart attack.

Dr. Carter was a native of Baxley, Georgia, and a graduate of the Medical College of Emory University in Atlanta. He located in Bunnell in 1909, beginning the practice of his profession, which he continued until his death.

Dr. Carter was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Woodmen of the World.

Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. W. T. Brantley, pastor of the church officiating. Rev. Perry Tomlinson, pastor of the Baptist Church, also assisted in the services. The body was shipped to Baxley Monday afternoon where it was interred in the family plot on Tuesday afternoon.

Survivors include one son, Corydon Carter of Bunnell; three brothers, Dr. Emory Carter, DeLand; Eston Carter, Jacksonville, and Earley Carter, of Texas. Also two grand children, Cean Carter and L. C. Carter, Jr. of Bunnell.

Active pallbearers were George Moody, C, G. Varn, G. E. Allen, W.H. McKenzie, A. S. Fowler, and F. L. Byrd. Honorary pallbearers included Dale B. Brown, M. B. Fuller, A. C. Rodgers, D. B. Roberts, W. H. Deen, R. W. Deen, Sr., E. A. Hunter, A. G. Thompson, O. F. Alford, C. M. Miller and H. T. Cook.

Active pallbearers who served at Baxley were George Moody, C. G. Varn, W. H. Deen and Frank Mercer of Bunnell, and Dr. Dave Branch and Ira Leggett of Baxley.

The Carl W. Davis Funeral Home of Palatka was in charge of arrangements.
