Dewayne Lee Cauley, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cauley, 3433 S. Dixie Hwy Lima, Ohio, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Cauley of Bunnell, died Wednesday, May 23. According to his grandmother, Mrs. Cauley, the teenager apparently died of asphyxiation after climbing into a 3-ft. diameter manhole sewer tile.
Dewayne was born in Daytona Beach. He was an 8th grade student at Shawnee Junior High School and attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Lima.
He participated in sports at the school and was the class wrestling champion.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Ward Alan; a sister, Shanda Renee; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Niehaus, Lima; and a great-grandmother, Mrs. Eiberda Hollar, Lima, Ohio.
