Two persons lost their lives in Flagler County Christmas Day ­ - both being struck by a train on the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks. .

Melton E. Champion, 34-year-old white man of Palatka who was struck by a train at Dinner Island several miles north of Bunnell. The victim was on a deer hunt at the time of the accident, investigating official said. .

The other killed was James Robinson, Negro, who drove his truck on a grade crossing at Dupont and was struck by one of the fast streamline trains. It was stated the man was killed instantly and the truck completely wrecked.

It was reported that the white man had fallen asleep while sitting on one of the tracks at Dinner Island.

The body of Champion was sent to Macon, Ga. for interment, although he was a native of Fort Valley, Ga.,

Champion is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Champion of Palatka; one sister, Mrs. Ed Rehberg of Palatka and two brothers, J. C. Champion, of Philadelphia, Pa., and I. C. Champion of Palatka.
