Calvin Lake Chastain, husband of former Flagler County School Superintendent Donnella D. Chastain, died Friday afternoon in a Jacksonville hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 71 years of age, and a veteran of World War I.

He was born in Medille, Okla., and had lived in Jacksonville for the past six years. For fifteen years before retirement, Mr. Chastain was in the real estate business in Detroit, Mich. They resided at 5536 Arva Circle in Jacksonville.

Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Monday from the Hardage and Sons’ Blanding Boulevard Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Finklea, minister of the Wesconnett Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Donnella Deen Chastain; a son, Calvin Deen Chastain, with the U. S. Army in Ft. Benning, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Fredda Cremean of Garrison, Tex., Mrs. Della Hopkins of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Ester MaClean of Little Rock and Mrs. Kathryn Torrey of Long Island, N. Y.; and a brother, Ben Chastain of Denver, Colo.
