Mrs. Gladys Deen, Flagler County Supervisor of Registration since 1948, passed away Monday afternoon at the Hali­fax Hospital following an illness of several months. She was the widow of the late James Emmett Deen of Bunnell.

Mrs. Deen was born in Ramsey, N. J., and has resided in Dupont since 1930. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's club, and the State Association of Supevisors. She was 69 years of age.

She was appointed supervisor of registration in October of 1948 to succeed her husband who had filled the office for several terms. She had been reelected each term until this year when she did not seek reelection due to her health. She planned to retire at the end of the year.

She is survived by a son, Stanley Deen of Freeport, Grand Bahamas; two daughters, Mrs. Frances Wetherington of Willow, Alaska, and Mrs. Naomi Hoffman of Merritt Island, Florida; five step-children, Lester and June Deen of Miami; Duane Deen of Bunnell; Thelma Walter, and Claude Deen of Christmas, Florida; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Nyland of Bunnell; two brothers, Stanley Close of Haledon, N. J. and Reece Close of Ramsey, N. J.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday (today) at Hope Cemetery, with Rev. Thomas Pinner of the First Baptist Church officiating.
