D. D. Corbett, former superintendent of Public Instruction of St. Johns County, died Sunday afternoon at his home there after a long illness.

Mr. Corbett was born in St. Augustine, October 5, 1873, and was preceded in death by his wife, who succumbed July 21, 1944. He is survived by two daughters, Mildred and Ethel Corbett; two sons, Horace L. and Delorean Dempsey Corbett, Jr., also of St. Augustine.

He was first elected county superintendent of schools in 1912 and at that time, most of what is now Flagler county was a part of St. Johns county.

He was reelected in 1916 and 1920. In 1931 he was elected county commissioner and was again chosen county superintendent. He did not seek reelection in 1944 due to ill health.

He was well known in Flagler cCounty, especially by the older citizens of this community.
