Oliver James Cowart, 60, Seville cattleman, passed away Friday at West Volusia Memorial Hospital. He was a member of a pioneer family of West Volusia County and was born in Seville where he lived all of his life.

Mr. Cowart was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seville, a Veteran of World War II, member of the Florida Cattleman’s Assn., and the Florida Farm Bureau Assn.

He is survived by his wife, Alma; three sons, Gary, Stanley, and O. W., all of Seville; three daughters, Mrs. Gail McBride, Seville, Mrs. Suzanne Anderson, Pierson, and Mrs. Pat Ward of Emporia; four sisters, Mrs. Effie Turner, Mrs. Eula Stone both of Pierson, Mrs. Kathleen Johnson of Pomona Park and Mrs. Juanita Tilton, Seville; three brothers, C. H. and Victor both of Bunnell and Wesley Coward of Pomona Park and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church of Seville with Dr. O. Lafayette Walker of Deland and the Rev. Almond T. Holly of Seville, officiating. Interment was in Seville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were: Elmer McDonald, Steve Sparkman, Rob Deen, Claude Yelvington, Bud Henry, and Emory Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Holland, Ralph Deen, Buddy Nordman, Jim Robinson, Lindsey Miller, George Baker, Hiram Durrance, Joe Peterson, Leslie Tucker, A. B. Johnston, Elvin Daugharty, Dr. Swiggs, Clyde Hart, Walt Pellicer and Mr. Zahler.

Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, was in charge of arrangements.
