A private memorial service was conducted Tuesday for Dirwood M. Danforth, 69, who lived at 29 Pepperdine Drive in Palm Coast.

Mr. Danforth died Friday morning at his home, apparently of a heart attack.

He was a retired executive in charge of research and development with the Singer Company in Elizabeth, N. J.

Mr. Danforth was born in Saugus, Mass. He moved to Palm Coast two years ago from Bridgewater, N. J. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, retiring with the rank of colonel. He was a member of the Palm Coast Men’s Golf Association.

Survivors include his widow, Dorothy; one daughter, one son, one sister and two brothers.

The Reverend Karl Konigsberger conducted the memorial service at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church in Palm Coast.
