William W. "Bill" Deen, 63, of 806 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell, died Tuesday after a brief illness at Bunnell General Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Flagler County who was born at Dinner Island. Mr. Deen was the son of the late William Henry Deen and Minnie Mae Johnston Deen, both pioneer settlers of the county.

Deen was a prominent Flagler County farmer, a veteran of WW II, a member of Bunnell First United Methodist Church and a member of American Legion Post 115.

He was president elect of the Benjamin E. Dupont Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, director of Hastings Potato Growers Association, director of Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association, past president of the Deen Family Association, a member of the Florida Soil Conservation District and a former member of the Florida Inland Navigation District.

Survivors include his wife, Freda; one daughter, Mrs. Delores Eure of Zellwood, Fla.; a son, W. W. Deen Jr. of Bradenton; three sisters, Mary Ketus Holland of Jacksonville, Amorette Wells of Bunnell and Myra Conner of Baxley, Ga.; one brother, John Curtis Deen of Bunnell; two granddaughters and two grandsons.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, at 2:30 p.m., in Bunnell First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Murfin officiating.

Internment will be in Espanola Cemetery.
