THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, July 22, 1937

Mrs. W. A. MacWilliams, 70, died Wednesday morning at the family home in St. Augustine following an illness.

Mrs. MacWilliams was known throughout Florida, and many cities in the East, where she had spent much time with her husband, a distinguished attorney, Col. W. A. MacWilliams.

During the quarter of a century which Colonel MacWilliams spent in legislative halls in Tallahassee as representative from St. Johns County, and as senator from the Thirty-first Senatorial District (St. Johns and Flagler counties), Mrs. MacWilliams sojourned to Tallahassee, and in that way her acquaintance became state-wide. Colonel MacWilliams was at one time president of the Florida Senate.

Mrs. MacWilliams was born in St. Augustine, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel I. deMedicis. Her father was at one time mayor of St. Augustine. She was a member of the Catholic church, and during earlier days was active in the work of church organizations. She was prominent socially, and took a leading part in the social life of the commuity until prevented from doing so by ill health.

Last December, Colonel and Mrs. MacWilliams celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and had with them, children and grandchildren.

There survive the husband, three children, Mrs Gertrude E. Calhoun of St. Augustine; Mrs. Raymond L. Hendricks of Lakeland and R. Emmett MacWilliams of Jacksonville.
