Chemical magnate Willard H. Dow, his wife, who is a sister of Mrs. Will Richardson of Bunnell, and three other persons crashed to their deaths in a plane last Thursday on a storm-soaked meadow near London, Ontario, Canada.

The 52-year-old president of sprawling Dow Chemical Company was flying with his party to attend a gathering and banquet given for Ex-Prime Minister Winston Churchill of Great Britain at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Dow, Mrs. Martha Dow, 51, Mrs. Alta Campbell, 44, Pilot A. J. Bowie, and co-pilot Fred Clements, all of Midland, Michigan, were believed killed instantly.

The Dow Chemical Company, although centered at Midland, has a number of subsidiaries. Among them are the Iowa-Dow Chemical Company, Cliffs Dow Chemical Company, Dowell, Inc., and the Ethyl Dow Chemical Company. Dr. Dow was president of all of these.
