Robert Ethridge, 22, was killed early New Year's morning on New Year's morning while walking along U. S. Highway 1 near the Pecky Cypress, he being hit by an automobile operated by Harlene Pfeiffer of Wooster, Ohio. Both were visiting friends and relatives here during the holidays.

Investigating officers said the accident was unavoidable, with a number of eyewitnesses aboard a bus.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fannie Ethridge, young daughter Ila Yvonne; his parents and a number of brothers and sisters.

His body was returned to Columbus, Georgia, his home, where funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. He was buried with military honors, being a veteran of World War II.
