George Wayne Evans of 6464 West 12 Ave., Hialeah, Florida, was killed in an airplane crash in the north section of Flagler County Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 5:45 p.m. in the isolated area of the county. The plane was sighted by three hunters, George Flake of Hastings, Charlie Hunter of Palatka, and Mike Wells of San Mateo, who were hunting in the Roy area. They stated the plane was flying at low altitude and apparently in trouble when it disappeared from sight. They said they also heard an explosion. They notified the Sheriff's office here and a search was started; however it had to be discontinued until early Saturday morning. The wreckage and body was found at 1:30 p. m. The search was conducted by Sheriff Homer Brooks and Deputy Leroy Irwin. Also officials from the C. A. P., F. A. A., and the C. A. B.

Mr. Evans was flying a Stinson Voyager and apparently took off from Herlong Airfield in Jacksonville enroute to his home in Hialeah. He was presently employed in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his widow and two children.
