John P. Gerz, 74, died at his home here Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 after a long period of illness.

Funeral arrangements call for mass to be held at 9:30 o'clock this morning in the Cathedral in St. Augustine, and burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery in that city.

Active pall bearers are: A. A. Walker, T. W. Bessant, W. C. Sullivan, Frank Croscin, R. A. Jones and H. T. Cook, all town officials. Honorary pallbearers are Z. E. Booe, Joe Stanich, F. B. Burgher, F. G. Osborn, J. H. McKnight, J. A. Henderson, O. D. Powell, Earl Brockett, .J. B. High, T. E. Holden, George Moody, and J. F. Lambert.

Surviving Mr. Gerz are his widow, two daughters and one son. One daughter, Frances, resides here, the others residing in the North.

The deceased was a familiar figure here for many years, having served as town clerk since 1923, and was active in politics. He resigned from his position as clerk only a few months ago when he became too ill to carry on the work.

He came to Bunnell from Philadelphia in 1918 after having been a member of the police department in the Pennsylvania City for many years where he was held in high esteem.
