Mrs. Ruth Flake, 45, of Hastings, passed away early Tuesday in a Gainesville hospital following an illness of several weeks.

She had been a lifelong resident of the Hastings area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hastings, Hastings Business and Professional Women's Club, and before her illness was secretary at the Hastings Agricultural Experiment Station.

Survivors include her husband, J. H. Flake Jr.; a daughter, Mary Cockfield; a son, Jamie Cockfield, all of Hastings. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Stevens, of Hastings, and Mrs. Carol Bates, Federal Point; two brothers, Donald Gray, Federal Point, and Herbert Gray, Flagler Beach.

Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock this morning (Thursday) from the United Methodist Church of Hastings. The pastor, Rev. Frank Daniels will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.

Johnson-Davis Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge of arrangements.
