Ocie Ashby Hamblin, 85, who made her home with a nephew, B. Carlisle Bowling, owner and operator of Snack Jack Restaurant, Flagler Beach, died recently at St  Augustine General Hospital.

Miss Hamblin for 42 years was a chief telephone operator for the General Telephone Company, Keystone, W. Va. She moved to Florida in 1978 from Hendersonville, N.C.

Miss Hamblin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keystone, was past president of the church’s Women’s Missionary Society and had been a noble grand of the Irish Rebekah Lodge 190, Keystone. She was also a life member of the  Beckley Council, Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors, in addition to Bowling, include a brother, Marvin E. Hamblin, Montgomery, W. VA., and a sister, Madeline Pearce, Keystone.

Service and burial took place Saturday in Keystone.
