THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, March 1, 1951

Charles W. Atwell, Jr., 26, and Roy Hanley, 23, are dead and Guy Peyton, 22, is in critical condition at Flagler Hospital after the car in which they were riding hit the rear of a lumber truck owned by King Brothers Lumber Co. of Bunnell, and driven by Jonathan (Bud) Cauley about 9:15 this morning two miles south of St. Augustine. All of those in the car were from Fastoria, Ohio.

Cauley was not hurt, but his wife, who was riding with him, sustained painful abrasions of a minor nature.

According to a report made by investigating officer, Highway Patrol Corp. Floyd Crawford, Cauley had slowed down on U. S. 1 to make a left turn into Lewis Point road, but the car hit the truck before turning, knocking it over on the right side of the highway. Both vehicles were going north.

Patrolman Crawford's report said no charges were made by investigating officer and that an inquest will be held Monday morning, March 5.
