Joseph Harding, long-time resident of Flagler County, died early Sunday afternoon at the home of his daughter in Miami after a long illness.

Mr. Hardning was a native of London, England, and came to the Untied States in 1905. He resided in Kenosha, Wisc., and Globe, Arizona, before coming to Flagler County in 1909.

He was one of the first settlers in the St. Johns Park section development, where he owned and operated a farm for many years. He also operated a store there. He moved to Bunnell in 1945 where he was employed as a carpenter until his retirement about five years ago. He was a carpenter by trade and was 78 years of age. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Funeral services were held at four o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Rev. Morgan Ashley and Rev. James Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John C. Rice, Henry Salyers, Z. D. Holland, F. L. Malphurs, H. S. Cobb, and W. L. Wadsworth.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Margaret Harding, Bunnell, one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor, Miami; four sons, Martin Harding and Bert Harding of Bunnell; Daniel O. Harding, Holly Hill and Richard Harding of Jacksonville. One sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller of Providence, R. I. Also surviving are seven grand children.

Woodward Lowther Funeral Home of Holly Hill was in charge of arrangements.
