THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, May 1, 1924

Bunnell was shocked when news reached here early Tuesday morning stating that R. L. Harper had passed away.

Mr. Harper died early Tuesday morning at Miami after suffering for many months with a chronic malady which he had just recently received treatment for at the Florida Sanitarium and his condition seemed to improve until a few days ago, when very little hope was left for recovery and he soon passed away.

Mr. Harper had every care and attention of a devoted family and his last days were made as comfortable as loving care by his family and skill of eminent physicians could make it, but the hand of man is powerless against the Grim Reaper.

Mr. Harper was a native or Georgia, but was reared in Orange County, Florida. He and Mrs. Harper moved to Bunnell in 1919 and he was one of the leading citizens of Bunnell for several years. He was widely known and liked in this section, being an honest and loyal citizen of Flagler County, and his death is regretted by hundreds of friends and acquaintances of this county.

Mr. Harper was formerly editor and proprietor of The Flagler Tribune; was a member of the Methodist church here; a member of the local Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges of Bunnell.

Besides his most estimable wife, Mr. Harper leaves two daughters, Mrs. G. H. Fahnestock and Mrs. M. B. Newman, both of whom live in Miami.

Funeral services were held this morning at ten o'clock at Miami and were conducted by the Masons of Temple lodge of that place.
