Mrs. Loretta P. Mason, 27-year-old bride of Robert P. Mason of Greenboro, N. C., drowned about 1 o’clock Monday after while swimming in the ocean between 23rd and 24th streets.

The couple was married three weeks ago and had registered at a Flagler Beach motel Sunday. Monday while swimming several hundred feet from shore in an unprotected area, Mrs. Mason ran into trouble. Observers realizing the swimmers were in serious trouble, called Life Guards John and Al Dompe who went to Mrs. Mason’s rescue. They were assisted in bringing the body to shore by Deputy Sheriff Walter Eberhardinger.

After all attempts at resuscitation had failed Dr. John M. Canakaris of Bunnell pronounced Mrs. Mason dead.

The body, in charge of Woodward Funeral Home of Holly Hill, was prepared and shipped Tuesday to Greensboro, N. C. for burial.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mason is survived by her mother; two sisters, Miss Ella Hastings and Mrs. Jack Kincaid of Greensboro, and one brother, Jack Hastings of Kernersville, N. C.
