Joseph Benton High, Sr., 60, and a resident of Flagler County since 1928, died at 11:50 Tuesday night in St. Vincent hospital in Jacksonville after undergoing a major operation Monday.

Mr. High was a native of Madison, Georgia, but had resided in Brunswick for a number of years before moving here. He was a graduate of the engineering college of the University of Georgia and Rensselaer Polytechnic of New York. He was a member of the Florida State Board of Engineering Examiners, the Florida Engineering Society, and served as a member of the local Selective Service Board since 1940. He had been employed as assistant engineer and procurement agent of the Florida Inland Navigation District for a number of years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Virginia High of Bunnell; one son, Cpl. J. B. High, Jr., who is serving with the U. S. Army in England; his mother, Mrs. S. L. High of Brunswick, Ga. Also two cousins, Mrs. Joe Feeborg and Miss Virginia George of St. Augustine.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Church of Brunswick at five o'clock Friday afternoon and burial will follow at the family plot there.
