Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, October 6, 1955

Leroy Galvin, 14 year old Negro youth, accidentally killed his stepfather, Roosevelt Hill, 50, Sunday morning when a 22 rifle was discharged, Sheriff T. K. McKnight who investigated the shooting, said.

Sheriff McKnight reported that the stepfather had bought the riffle only the day before for the boys, and Sunday the boys and the step-father were getting into a truck when the riffle was discharged. The sheriff said the boy did not know there was a safety catch on the rifle and the gun was cocked when he attempted to get into the truck. The boy was released after questioning.
