Hector S. Holden of Jacksonville, brother of Tom E. Holden of Bunnell, died early last Thursday morning in Florence, S. C. while en route to a Washington, D. C. hospital for further medical treatment.

He had undergone surgery in a Jacksonville hospital several days previously, and was accompanied on the trip by his brother and a nurse, who were with him at the time of his death.

Mr. Holden, who was 63 years of age, was an employee in the Florida Times Union's accounting department since 1926. He was a native of Palatka and moved to Jacksonville in 1917. At one time he resided in Bunnell and was employed by Holden's Pharmacy.

He was a 1908 graduate of the University of the South, Suwannee, Tenn., where he was a classmate of the Rt. Rev. Frank A. Juhan, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida. He was a communicant of St. Marks Episcopal Church, Palatka. He was a member of the Albert J. Russell Lodge 126, F & A M and the Morocco Temple of the Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eddy Holden of Jacksonville; two sisters, Miss Myrtle Holden and Mrs. H. E. Merryday, both of' Palatka; two brothers, Tom E. Holden of Bunnell, and Clarence Holden of Palatka.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 Friday afternoon in the Chapel of W. Carl Davis Funeral Home of Palatka, with Rev. Hunley A. Elebash, rector of the St. Catherine Episcopal Church of Jacksonville, and Rev. Pipe Jones, rector of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Palatka, officiating.
