Tom Edward Holden, 81, Bunnell, died at the Carter County Memorial Hospital Monday evening, Elizabethton, Tenn., following a short illness.

Mr. Holden was born and reared in Palatka and moved to Bunnell in 1914. He was a pharmacist and owned and operated Holden's Pharmacy in Bunnell, which was the only drug store in Flagler County for 35 years. He sold the business in 1951 and was honored in 1967 by the Florida State Pharmaceutical Assn., for 50 years as a registered pharmacist.

He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of Bunnell Lodge 200 for 56 years. He was a life member and an ambassador of Morocco Temple of Jacksonville and a member of the Flagler County Shrine Club. He was one of the organizers and served for 20 years on the board of the Federal Housing Authority in Flagler County. He was a director of the Citizens Bank of Bunnell since it was organized in 1938. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell and had been a trustee for many years.

He and his wife, Ethel, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Dec. 25, 1973.

Mr. Holden is survived by his wife, Ethel; two daughters, Mrs. Sam Black, Ormond Beach, and Mrs. Julian T. Caudill, Elizabethton, Tenn; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one brother, Clarence, Palatka.

Funeral arrangements by Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Craig Funeral Home, Bunnell, In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell Memorial Fund.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. in Bunnell First United Methodist Church.

Rev. Logan Whalen will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Ormond Beach.

Pallbearers will be Dale Brown, Travis Chambers, John Rice, Ross Anderson, M. B. McDaniel. P.A. Edmonson, H.V. Peavy, John A. Clegg, George Clegg, Charles Creal, Jeff Seale, Leslie Tucker and Shelton Barber. Members of the Flagler County Shrine Club and Bunnell Methodist Men.
